Zentrum für Softwarekonzepte Aachen
Knowledge Transfer from Research Institutes to Companies
The Aachen Center for Software Concepts
(Zentrum für Softwarekonzepte, ZfS), established in 2005 by
Microsoft, Fraunhofer FIT and RWTH Aachen, assists developers and small
and mid-sized companies in their IT projects through R&D, training
and coaching oriented towards .NET technologies. In addition, ZfS
provides a framework for easy transfer of knowledge and research results
from research institutes and universities to companies.
The support is given in form of seminars
related to .NET technologies as well as consulting activities. ZfS Aachen also organizes courses for students at RWTH Aachen
University, such as the lab course on
web service implementation with .NET. Furthermore, ZfS Aachen delivers
white papers, howto-documents, and sample code & applications which describe
the use of .NET technologies in various applications. Moreover, in
cooperation with Microsoft, ZfS Aachen is involved in several activities
targeted at government&elites and press. This includes presentations at the
CeBIT trade fair in 2006 and 2007 and the "Tag der Innovationen"
in Berlin in September 2006. ZfS Aachen also supported the German scientific year of
computer science (Informatikjahr
2006) by creating an interactive map
(based on Microsoft MapPoint) of research institutes, universities and
events related to computer science.
